Helmut is a leading exponent in the field of studio furniture and design for wood and maintains a regular national and international lecture program, including forum, conference and workshop presentations. He was previously Dean of Swinburne University of Technology’s Faculty of Design.
Paul has worked as a broadcast graphic designer and art director for a range of major television networks including TVNZ, CanWest and Sky, and as a freelance designer and consultant on broadcast, film and web projects. He previously worked at Auckland University of Technology (AUT).
Dr Mieke Leppens has 25 years’ experience spanning from haute couture in Paris to design original in Belgium, and fast fashion and brand fashion labels in Australia. She has extensive design teaching expertise right across the board - in private colleges, universities and design studios and holds a PHD.
Michael O'Brien has over 17 years’ experience in the interior design industry and education arena. He has worked for prominent interior design practices both locally and numerous commercial projects including retail, corporate, exhibition, sport and hospitality environments. He was a Senior Interior Designer on London’s New Wembley Stadium.
A firm believer in the transformative power of digital games, Dr. Jens Schroeder is passionate about everything digital. He also is part of a start-up that explores game-based learning solutions for teaching English to students in developing economies in Asia, South America and Eastern Europe.
Matt has 13 years’ industry experience in visual communication. A Billy Blue graduate himself, he studied and worked under the late Ross Renwick, the founder of Billy Blue. Matt has played a role in design conferences and founded Empty Magazine, an art-design world journal. He also worked with the City of Sydney on a project that explores thinking models and idea generation through real-city applications.
Billy Blue College of Design was born as a tiny design school set up by a small agency to train young creatives to work on client projects. In the first intake, four people were expected to apply - but instead 66 people turned up! And so was born the Billy Blue legend (now owned by Think Education) that has launched the careers of many of Australia’s top designers.
