We love to celebrate our Alumni and Southern School of Natural Therapies were extremely proud to host returning Australian College of Natural Therapies graduate Kanae Kono this month. Kanae graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy) and organised an Australian Tour for delegates from the Japan Medical Herb Association.

Kanae was extremely passionate about her time studying in Australia, especially about the strong connections and bonds through the natural medicine profession. She wishes the profession was as respected and valued back home in Tokyo, Japan. She discusses the challenges of returning home after four wonderful years studying in Sydney, her journey kick-starting her career from scratch in a country where the profession has no footprint at all.

In Melbourne, Greg Connolly, SSNT Senior Learning Facilitator, gave a special presentation for the visiting group highlighting Naturopathy practice in Australia focusing on herbal medicines and how they are prescribed in Australia – for which Kanae translated throughout. She hopes to continue returning to Australia and we would love that.
