General requirements
  • Australian Year 12 or equivalent
  • First Aid Certificate, Working with Children and Police Check before commencing clinical practicum subjects; and
  • Pass in a science subject at a senior secondary level recommended; and
  • Pass in standard English Band 4 or above
Applicants with work and life experience Demonstrated ability to undertake study at the required level:
  • Broadly relevant work experience (documented e.g. CV), demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success; OR
  • Formal, informal or non-formal study, completed or partially completed, demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success; OR
  • Written submission to demonstrate a reasonable prospect of success.
International student requirements
  • Australian Year 12 or equivalent; and

  • Academic IELTS 6.5 (no band less than 5.5) or equivalent.

General requirements

  • Year 12 or equivalent; OR
  • An Australian Certificate III in Individual Support or disability work; OR
  • For students wanting to apply as a mature age entry, be 21 years of age or older; AND
  • Undertake Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) testing from an Australian Government approved provider and demonstrate competency at exit level
  • 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) in both reading and numeracy; AND
  • Provide evidence of meeting at least one of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) English language standards prior to enrolment.

If you are required to provide evidence in the form of an English test please:

NOTE: Australian students who have successfully completed an Australian Grade 12 certificate with an English subject and students who have undertaken a formal English language skills test (for example, the International Language Testing System) that meets program entry criteria referred to in criterion 6.1a, need only undertake the numeracy component of the LLN test.

All applicants must also satisfy the following:

  • Provide their Unique Student Identifier (USI) at the time of application if they already have one, or authorise THINK to apply for one on their behalf;
  • Students must be 18 years of age prior to clinical placement;
  • Applicants are required to declare their physical and mental fitness to safely perform the duties associated with direct care work.

Applicants with work and life experience

Demonstrated ability to undertake study at the required level:

  • Broadly relevant work experience (documented e.g. CV), demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success; OR
  • Formal, informal or non-formal study, completed or partially completed, demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success; OR
  • Written submission to demonstrate a reasonable prospect of success.

International student requirements

  • Australian Year 12 or equivalent, or be of mature age that can be demonstrated by a candidate who is at least 21 years of age; and
  • Be 18 years of age prior to clinical placement; and
  • Undertake Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) testing from an Australian Government approved provider and demonstrate competency at exit level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) in numeracy; and
  • Have a current clear Working with Children and National Police Record Check; and
  • Have an up-to-date immunisation/vaccination record; and
  • Applicants are required to declare their physical and mental fitness to safely perform the duties associated with direct care work; and
  • Provide evidence of meeting at least one of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) English language standards prior to enrolment; and
  • Academic IELTS 7.0 (no band less than 7.0) or equivalent.
