A Day in the life of a Dermal Aesthetician

Working as a Dermal Aesthetician is very exciting, each day is different! You will be performing facial treatments using high standing equipment such as IPL and laser or performing skin needling and chemical peels. You will also be able to work with patients who wish to transform their body and you will use machines such as Fat Cavitation that help reduce adipocyte cells (cellulite). You will be able to support your patients in between appointments by prescribing highly active skin care formulas and giving nutritional advice to further boost their results.
How do you become a combined Aesthetician/Nurse?
After completing a Diploma of Nursing, you can choose to pathway to a degree in Health Sciences (Aesthetics) with our sister University Torrens Australia. You will have the opportunity to expand and build on your current nursing skills as you enter the innovative and exciting dermal field. You will work alongside Dermatologists, Cosmetic Physicians and Aestheticians to provide a wide range of anti-ageing skin health treatments.
Some of the key subjects you will undertake are ‘Cosmetic Chemistry’ which develops your understanding of how to read ingredients on cosmetic products and articulate product prescriptions for patients. ‘Aesthetic Practice with Technology’ is where you will learn how technology is shaping the future of skin treatments. ‘Dermal in the Surgical Practice’ is a subject that explores how your skills can be applied pre-and post-plastic surgery to prepare, enhance and maintain surgical outcomes.

As a student, you will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills on campus in our student clinicand you will also complete work placement in a registered Dermal Clinic.
